Natural body lotion and creams are often employed by people who are worried about many skin related problems. These problems range from simple and harmless blemishes to a more complex process of rapidly aging skin and symptoms associated with this condition. Some people also use creams to hydrate or moisturize their skin.
Natural body lotion and creams are very beneficial for long-term skin health. They are meant to be applied regularly to various parts of the body after taking a bath or before going to bed. They help to keep your skin smooth and soft. Our skin becomes rough and starts suffering from premature aging signs if we do not pay attention to its proper cleansing.
Some natural lotion is available on the market as moisturizers, while others are manufactured to act like cleansers and toners. People also use creams to remove their makeup and to counter the effects of harmful materials found in cosmetics. If you want to prevent formation of fine lines and premature wrinkles, then don’t neglect the importance of this step.
It has been found that body lotion and creams that contain natural ingredients are more beneficial than others as they provide long-lasting results. When choosing your skin care product, you should always avoid products that contain alcohols, mineral oil, and dioxane which is a synthetic derivative of coconut.
These substances are harmful for long-term skin health and are therefore not recommended by skin specialists all over the world. Some of these materials have even been declared highly dangerous as they may cause skin cancer. You need to be very careful in choosing your skin care products to avoid complications and adverse effects.
It is therefore strongly advised to go for natural products that are free from all harmful substances including preservatives and fragrances. When buying body lotion and creams, make sure you have done thorough study about all these ingredients and also some other common substances found in skin care products.
We also know that fragrances are not good for our skin health. They not only contain different forms of alcohols but also some other toxic substances that may damage our blood vessels. People who are used to consuming alcoholic drinks and smoking on a regular basis are most likely to develop skin cancer and many other skin related problems including premature wrinkles.
In order to benefit from the countless advantages provided by body lotion and creams, always conduct some preliminary research on the effectiveness of the ingredients they contain.

Natural Skin Care Basics

With thousands of skin products on the market, the basics of natural lotion and organic skincare can seem overwhelming. The truth is that if you want great skin, you do need to gather information before you even step into a store, spa or cosmetic spa.
Our skins are plagued with sun damage, stress, poor diets, hormonal changes and air pollution. With so many skin damaging components in our everyday lives, there is a great need for counteraction. You can counteract these damaging components with great skin products. One of the basics of skincare is using lotion everyday. Lotion is extremely important because it helps the skin maintain its moisture. Hydration is a key to having great skin. Skin that is not properly hydrated will become dry, dull, and irritated.
There are different types of lotion for different areas of skin however. You should always use a lotion that is hypoallergenic as well as one that will not clog your pores. Natural lotion is a safe option. Facial lotions tend to be referred to as moisturizers. Lotions for other areas of your body are usually called body lotions. Make sure you are using the proper type of lotion on each area of your body. Body lotions are often too harsh for your face. Lotions are also broken up into moisturizing intensities. If you have dry skin, you will need more moisture.
If you have oily skin, do not make the mistake of thinking you don’t need lotion, oily skin that is not hydrated will become troublesome. Your skin is producing oil because your hydration levels are off. Use a light moisturizer for oily skin.
Ointments are most often used for skin problems. You will often see ointments being used for eczema, rashes, or hives.
If you are looking for a once or twice a week pick-me-up for your skin, a mask is the way to go. Masks can be found for any skin type. They also come in many varieties containing many different ingredients. You can find masks with mud components to soothe and smooth your skin. You can also find masks that will help with acne. All masks work to help tighten your facial pores and smooth your skin’s appearance.
Masks should be used once or twice a week. Most masks are made so that you just apply them to your skin and wait. While you wait the mask will begin to dry and you may feel your face tightening. This is normal and indicates the mask is doing its job. After waiting for 10 to 15 minutes, you will need to rinse the mask off of your face. You can do this with a wash cloth, or you can use water alone. After using your mask, dry your face completely and apply a moisturizer. Since masks take a little hydration from your face, you must replenish it.
In addition to face masks, you can also get full body masks. These masks work the same way as a facial mask and will rejuvenate your entire body. Many spas are now offering body masks. They can help tighten and smooth the skin on your entire body. Be sure to drink plenty of water after you get a full body mask however. Body masks draw toxins from your body and may leave you a little dehydrated, so drinking water is essential.
Knowing about lotions, ointments, and masks will help you get the skin you desire. The most important thing to remember is proper hydration. Be sure your skin is always hydrated with lotions. You can also drink water to help your skin hydrate from the inside. If you take care of your skin, you will notice that your skin will always look radiant.
Skin Rashes and Treatments

A skin rash shows up as an area of inflammation or change in the texture, and/ or color of your skin. It can be caused by a number of different things including irritation, disease, or allergic/ non-allergic reactions to foods, chemicals, plants, animals, insects or other environmental factors.
So many rashes appear because the skin is an active player in the immune system. Antigens are things like viruses or proteins that we react to. These antigens need to be presented to our immune system in a very controlled way; otherwise we would react to too many things. The skin is the site at which antigen presenting cells introduce the antigens to lymphocytes. These lymphocytes are in a sense the paratroopers of our body. A complicated process of making sure that we are not overreacting takes place. All of this occurs in the skin once these lymphocytes have been activated they produce many chemicals that cause inflammation. When we become allergic to an antibiotic or other drug, the action takes place mainly in the skin as well as in the lymph glands. Viral infections also frequently produce rashes as viral particles are presented to our immune system in the epidermis. In a sense the skin is like the schoolyard which is where many of the fights occur.
Rashes can appear on your entire body or be limited to a specific area, and what it looks like and how it feels can vary depending on the cause and type of rash. Some common types of rashes include:
* eczema (also called atopic dermatitis), which is commonly seen in children. It can cause dry, chapped, bumpy areas around your elbows and knees, and can be very itchy. It can sometimes become very serious causing red, scaly and swollen skin all over your body. (Visit Eczema Guide.ca for more information)
* irritant contact dermatitis, which is caused by your skin coming into contact with something that irritates it, such as a chemical, soap or detergent. This type of rash can be red, swollen and itchy.
* allergic contact dermatitis is caused by your skin coming into contact with something you’re allergic to, such as rubber, hair dye or nickel (which is a metal that is found in some jewelry). A nickel allergy can show up as a red, scaly, crusty rash wherever the jewelry touched your skin. Urushiol, which is an oil or resin that’s found in poison ivy, oak and sumac, can also cause this kind of rash.
If you develop a rash, don’t scratch it! If you do, the rash can take longer to heal and you might develop an infection or scar. There are a wide range of over-the-counter products available to treat rashes, but it’s important to see your doctor first and determine what’s causing the rash and the most effective treatment.
* If the rash is caused by an allergy, then treatment will focus on identifying and avoiding the allergen.
* It it’s caused by eczema, your doctor may suggest special moisturizers (emollients) to help retain the water in your skin; not only will this help to keep your skin soft and smooth, it will help reduce the itching. Short, cool showers are also a good idea because hot showers and baths can dry out your skin more. Also use a mild soap (read more on Mild Cleanser.ca ) and be sure to apply more emollients after you’ve showered.
* For poison ivy, cool showers and calamine lotion often help and if the rash is severe, your doctor may prescribe an antihistamine to reduce the itching and redness.
It’s important to try to find out what’s causing the rash because the best way to prevent it is to avoid the problem food, substance, medicine or insect. If a poison plant is your problem, learn what it looks like and avoid it. It may also help to wear long sleeves and pants when you go camping or hiking. If insect bites are causing your rash, then consider applying insect repellent before going outside. For eczema, stay away from harsh soaps that may dry out your skin, and make an effort to moisturize with creams or lotions.

Whether you call it 100% pure skincare or holistic skincare or natural skincare or organic skincare, what people are looking for is skincare products that don’t contain harmful ingredients.
If it’s news to you that many mainstream skincare products and antiaging products and cosmetics contain potentially harmful ingredients then here’s a couple of examples to demonstrate why so many people are now looking for natural skincare products.
A recent study, for example, has found lead in many of the big brand lipsticks that so many of us use. Other studies have found chemicals called Phthalates in many of our skincare and anti aging products and cosmetics. Phthalates have linked to birth defects.
Why is this so? Because the FDA doesn’t regulate or test anti aging products and skincare products for safety, (or for how well they work), and so many companies use ingredients in their products that are suspect or even dangerous, and sometimes are also damaging to your skin.
There are many other examples, which have prompted consumers to research what they are buying and created consumer organizations dedicated to exposing dangerous ingredients in skincare products and cosmetics in an attempt to clean up the industry.
For those seeking safe skincare products there is good news. There are excellent companies dedicated to developing high quality, safe, effective and pure skincare products, and safe, effective and pure cosmetics.
Scientific studies have shown many naturally occurring ingredients that can be used in skincare products to avoid the necessity of using chemicals and other suspect or dangerous ingredients.
Many of these natural ingredients provide much more than just vibrant skin, but a unique way to reintroduce vitamins and minerals back into your body. The skin has a special characteristic which allows it to absorb these nutrients from lotions and creams into the blood stream topically.
If you are looking for a better natural skincare product that is safe, affordable and effective it’s out there. Do some research and be sure to find a product you feel comfortable with and an honest company who stands behind the ingredients in their products.
Natural Homeopathic Approach to Skincare
May 6, 2009 by admin · 2 Comments
Natural skincare can be more than just using lotions and creams. The skin is the largest organ of the body and can be influenced by keeping a balanced equilibrium. Homeopathic medicine is a great natural approach to staying healthy. Although most know very little about homeopathic medicine, following Chinese medicine, homeopathy is the second most prevalent branch of medicine on the planet.Homeopathy and pediatrics is becoming more and more popular in the developed world. Homeopathy is used to treat diseases in children ranging from semi-serious illnesses to the common cold. Although homeopathy works in a number of ways, its most basic function is to help strengthen and focus a child’s immune system when they are sick based on the symptoms and root cause of the ailment. Once their own immune systems become stronger, they are able to fight off diseases more effectively.
What makes homeopathy particularly suited to pediatrics is that the medicine is often sweet and appealing, and has little to no side effects. The pleasant taste combined with the low incidence of side effects such as nausea or drowsiness, ensures that the child will be more likely to take the medication on a regular basis.
Homeopathic treatment usually falls into two categories; either acute or chronic conditions. Acute conditions refer to a sick child that is suffering from such illnesses as colds, sore throats, or the stomach flu. Chronic conditions refer to ailments such as allergies, asthma or any number of skin diseases. Often chronic conditions should be overseen by a trained homeopathic professional for the best results.
Parents who choose to treat children with an acute condition at home may consider a home prescription kit with homeopathic remedies in 12c or 30c concentrations. Home prescription kits containing homeopathic remedies can be brought online or at stores and range from $60 to $100 dollars. Many homeopathic products are available as over the counter medicines. Parents can also purchase manuals and books on homeopathy for under $30.
Homeopathic medicines come in pills and liquid form. Homeopathic medicines are free of artificial colors and chemicals and are usually considered safe for infants and children.
Interesting Facts about Homeopathy
• Homeopathy is based on clinical and experimental data.
• The founding father of homeopathy was Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), a German physician, who developed the basic principles of homeopathy in the late 1700s.
• Homeopathy is recognized by medical professionals and government agencies including the U.S. Food and Drug Association (FDA), and is regulated as medicine.
• Sugar pills are commonly used as a binding agent in homeopathic medicine and as carriers for the medicine.
• Homeopathy uses the principles of dilutions to achieve extremely low concentrations of high potency natural herbs and other remedies.
• Homeopathic medicine can work fairly fast in acute cases. In chronic cases, the medication works at a slower pace.
• When a person is uses homeopathic treatments they should abstain from certain foods like tea, coffee and alcohol.
• Homeopathic medicines are based on naturally occurring remedies, are usually not patented and are therefore cheaper then other types of conventional medicines.
• Homeopathic medicines usually do not have any side effects.
Naturally Firm Skin Can Come From Skincare Lotions

With all the marketing material out there is can be a challenge to sort through which skin care products and ingredient make a more effective skin care product. For starters depending on the function of the lotion it will contain different ingredients A natural skincare product with antioxidants and organic ingredients can help your body to rejuvenate itself and keep your skin looking young.
With prices ranging from 4.99 to well over $100 natural skincare lotions will suit everyone’s purpose. Not to say the expensive stuff is the best, but the ingredients are key. A lot of the cheaper products are made with inexpensive fillers like mineral oil which is a petroleum product that suffocates your skin by holding in the toxins. They also may have sodium lauryl sulfate which can rob your skin of precious moisture. Why bother with ingredients that can be harmful or irritating?
The best firming lotion will have healthy, good for you ingredients that help your skin regenerate itself from the inside. A good skin firming lotion review will consider the long term implications of ingredients and recommend products that are natural and have ingredients that are time proven to aid in firming the skin and preventing wrinkles.
Helping your body make more collagen is one of the best ways to keep your skin firm. This important protein keeps your skin firm and smooth but your body slows down its production of collagen as you age and that’s what starts the sagging and wrinkles. Many lotions feature collagen as an ingredient but you can’t stimulate collagen production by putting it on your skin. Your body has to make its own to be useful.
So, what can help you produce more collagen? Cynergy TK is an ingredient that contains Functional Keratin. This is extracted from the wool of New Zealand sheep and is so close to what your bodies produce that it tricks your body into thinking it is “you” and stimulates our cells to make more collagen and elastin. Combined, these proteins are the very essence of keeping our skin smooth and young looking. In addition to making more collagen, using a product with lots of antioxidants is going to help fight aging and keep our skin firm by neutralizing environmental hazards like free radicals.
A powerful antioxidant is CoEnzyme Q10 (CQ10), you may already take this in a supplement form but you can also find it in the best firming lotion. A good skin firming lotion review should let you know if it’s in a nano emulsion formula for maximum benefit. This just means it’s in microscopic particles and penetrates 7 layers deep to eat up free radicals. Nano-Lipobelle H EQ10 is the most effective form of this vitamin like substance on the market today.
Other great antioxidants you can look for in your skin care are Natural Vitamin E, Grapeseed Oil, jojoba oil and avocado oil.
Evening Primrose – A Natural Skincare Ingredient
May 6, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
Evening Primrose Oil is a natural, and the richest, source of Gamma-Linolenic acid. It contains about 72% Linoleic acid and 9 percent GLA. Since it contains the essential GLA, evening primrose oil is highly valuable to those who cannot otherwise form enough GLA. This would include those who do not get enough essential fatty acids in their diet, drink or have drunk excessive amounts of alcohol, have low thyroid function, or have received radiation treatment. The direct source of GLA takes the pressure off the body to produce the necessary amount of GLA for optimum health. What are essential fatty acids and what makes them so essential? EFA’s play important roles in our body‘s overall health. They are part of every cell and establish and control the cellular metabolism. EFA’s are essential in four primary body functions: 1) provide energy, 2) maintain body temperature, 3) insulate our nerves, 4) cushion and protect body tissues. Two key polyunsaturated fatty acids (EFA’s) are Linoleic acid and Gamma-Linolenic acid. LA is not produced by the body but must be obtained through the dietary intake. LA acts as an energy source and is what the body converts to GLA which in turn forms other substances such as prostaglandins (hormone-like substances found in every body cell). They are critical to the body’s overall health maintenance, but need to be replenished constantly as once they serve their purpose, they are destroyed.
The purposes of prostaglandins include lowering blood pressure, reducing risks of blood clotting, stimulating the immune system, and regulating brain function. Animal studies at the University of Pennsylvania have also shown them to prevent arthritis. This is also being studied in humans trials in Europe with similar results. The source of EFA’s in these studies has been Evening Primrose Oil.
Preliminary studies in Sweden are relating Evening Primrose Oil to an anti-oxidant in that it also counter acts the formation of free radicals. Free radicals are most often associated with the aging process. Maintaining health is just one of the benefits of Evening Primrose Oil. It is also being studied extensively in England and Europe for its pain reduction in association with arthritis, controlling complications of diabetes, controlling liver and kidney damage due to alcohol, depression, Multiple sclerosis, skin/hair/nail repair, and most impressively, controlling sever symptoms of PMS. It is extremely effective as a natural skincare ingredient to treat dry skin and eczema.
A study at St. Thomas Hospital in London found that when PMS suffers were given evening primrose oil three times daily, 67% of the participants were symptom-free and 22% achieved partial relief. (In all total, 89% had positive results with the evening primrose oil.) Although not as popular in the United States, Evening Primrose Oil is available at most health food stores and nutrition centers. And, as more studies become available, we will find why Evening Primrose Oil was commonly called the “King’s Cure All” in 17th Century England.
Organic Skin Care is Gaining Popularity for Good Reason
April 21, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
You might be asking yourself why the movement towards organic skin care products has been so enforced within the past few years. If you are asking yourself this, you may want to try it. Those who have turned to organic skin care have discovered a refreshing secret that has given them solutions to the many ailments found in today’s world. By applying the organic ingredients, the skin receives the strength and treatment it needs to defend against many attacking and irritating conditions. With strengthened skin, you can be sure to feel a new youth and vigor that is noticeable to your peers.
What can be considered organic? If it isn’t straight from the plant that naturally produces the ingredient, it cannot be organic. Even the plant itself must be grown in an environment that has not been chemically influenced. This is to avoid the taint of human interference in the growth of the plant. Any organic ingredient cannot contain debilitating substances. Chemicals, petroleum and other by-products are some such substances. Organic ingredients are considered pure without human engineering involved in the growth of the plant.
Without the involvement of bioengineering or chemical influence, these ingredients are safe to apply to the skin. There is no harmful substance that will penetrate the skin, and you will notice the change. The recuperating process that the skin does so well will be enhanced to its greatest potential.
The consequences of using products that contain either bioengineered or even entirely synthetic ingredients can eventually be detrimental to the skin. Applications that ought to help improve your skin will eventually come to harm you after a period of time. The chemicals will enter the body and can alter your bodily systems. Using synthesized products may harm your body’s ability to fight illness or give adequate oxygen to all parts of the body.
Now if we track the process of acquiring the ingredients, we find that only the highest of quality is used in these products. From all parts of the world, diverse cultures have gradually joined in helping supply these materials. Since the focus is not mass production, each farmer and caretaker is graceful in its nurturing of the plants that will be used. It is for this reason that the ingredients are hard to come by at this point in time. Lack of cooperation from farming communities has made large production of organic substances impossible at this time.
While the organic market is growing rapidly, it maintains its standards of quality, and each product guarantees the satisfaction of its users. The use of organic care materials will continue to enhance your lifestyle, and give you another reason to smile.
